Bill Highlights:

SB25-167 is a wide ranging bill that seeks to expand powers of the state treasurer to fund matters of state interest. Most relevant to housing are provisions that replace 15M in Department of Housing (DOH) funds with a $100M loan from the Unclaimed Property Fund, as well as a variety of provisions to provide housing for school employees. NDC’s primary focus with this bill is to ensure that any loans are structured to make them as similar to grants as possible, preserve the $15M in existing DOH dollars, and ensure that school employee housing programs are less vulnerable to being hijacked for non-education market rate projects.

HB25-1169 empowers schools and religious institutions to develop housing on their land. NDC is working to ensure that such housing prioritizes affordability.

SB25-006 empowers the State Treasurer to invest $50M in bonds on affordable homeownership. NDC strongly supports this bill, and seeks to ensure that it prioritizes housing those in greatest need.
